Bahrain is a nation that comprises of more than 30 islands in the Arabian Gulf. It has been at th center of major trading routes for a long, long time.
Bahrain is a great destination for travelers too and there is a lot you can do.
See a performance at the National Theatre – The Bahrain National Theatre opened up in 2012 and hosts performances from some of the best opera singers, ballet dancers and classical music artists in the world. The building is absolutely beautiful too and overlooks the sea. Inside it houses a cafe as well!
Visit Bahrain Fort – The fort was built in the 16th century and was just recently restored. It is one of the world most popular tourist attractions and is well worth visiting.
Explore the house of Bait Al Jasra – It is located in the village of Al Jasra and is the birthplace of Emir of Bahrain, Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. It is a beautiful example of traditional Bahrain architecture. It’s also got a lovely view of the sea.
Dilmun Burial Mounds – This is thought to be one of the largest cemeteries in the world and it is thought there are around 170,000 people buried here.
Visit the Tree of Life – The tree of life stands alone in the desert and has become a tourist attraction in Bahrain. It is thought to be around 400 years old and attracts around 50,000 pilgrims a year.
Head on out to the Hawar Islands
Take a 40 minute boat ride and visit the Hawar Islands. You might see dolphins on the cruise over there as they play in the calm Gulf seas. You’ll also see beautiful flamingos! you can’t really miss them.
Watch a Bollywood film at Awal cinema – Bollywood might not be the first thing that pops into your head when you think of Bahrain, but it should be. Bahrain shows more Indian movies than practice anywhere else outside india.
Party at Lunarfest on Al Dar Islands – People visit come to Bahrain every quarter to go to Lunarfest. Lunarfest is a wild beach party and it is well worth doing! Great music, games such as dahroo, Heya Beya ceremony and much more!
Go pearl diving – Bahrain is a great place to go pearl diving. Before Bahrain became the financial centre it is now, years ago the locals had to go pearl diving to make money. It was quite a dangerous operation and a lot of people died but due to new technology, you no longer have to hold your breath in order to collect oysters!
F1 Bahrain Grand Prix – Even if you don’t like cars, noise or big crowds you have got to do this once! If you live and Bahrain and haven’t been to the Grand Prix yet you haven’t really lived.
